Metal Stamping with Secondary Operations

What is Secondary Metal Stamping?
Secondary Metal Stamping is adding a stamping operation to an unfinished component.  Secondary Stamping is cost effective when the quantity requirements to not warrant the investment in progressive tooling.

Sometimes it is more cost effective to utilize secondary metal stamping for short runs. CEI understands the need for cost effective secondary stamping operations. With the help of full-time toolmakers and highly trained operators, CEI takes full advantage of the benefits of lean manufacturing and six sigma principles to ensure quality, cost savings, and on-time delivery.

Operations that can be performed in using secondary metal stamping operations include blanking, piercing, forming, drawing, lancing, and insertion. CEI can produce secondary stampings from stainless steel, aluminum, titanium, cold roll steel, brass, and just about any metal that comes in sheet or from a coil. CEI has the ability to stamp components up to +/- .001 tolerance where required.

In 2007, CEI invested in a line of brand new United presses dedicated to increase our secondary stamping capabilities. In addition, our secondary presses are utilized to perform tube operations such as tight tolerance piercing, flaring, flanging, expanding, and flattening.
